The Home Office continues to ensure that security checks are carried out in accordance with the latest advice from security services. This will continue on all cases, but Ukrainians with passports no longer need to go to a visa application centre to give their biometrics before they come to the UK.
Whilst the Government understands people's frustrations around these checks, they are a fundamental part of our visa approval process. There have been security concerns raised with Ministers due to efforts by Russian forces to infiltrate and merge with Ukrainian forces. With the risk of extremists, and Putin's choice to use violence on British streets, these checks must continue.
The Home Secretary confirmed on the 10th March that security checks will continue on all cases, but those with Ukrainian passports no longer need to go to a visa application centre to give their biometrics before they come to the UK. I welcome this move which will help to speed up applications for those refugees who are fleeing the UK and wish to reside in this country.
