The Junction Shop in Lower Gornal was broken into during the early hours of Sunday 12th September between 5am and 7am. There was Damage to the front door, the safe was stolen, charity boxes were stolen and lots of chocolate and expensive coffee.
Marco Longhi MP said “I will be visiting the Junction Shop during parliament recess to speak with the owner. I have also reached out to the local police inspector for a meeting to discuss this further. This really has been a tough time for small business and abhorrent acts like this just add to their woes.”
“I want to work with local businesses and the police to help tackle local crime. I know several residents are also concerned and so I am working on setting up a local meeting for those concerned. When the community comes together it is possible to get things done as we have seen with the brilliant success of the Wellbeing Centre run by Wade Cooper.
“I am delighted that the Government has published the Beating Crime Plan, setting out the Government’s strategy for reducing crime in line with its ambition to level up the country. This includes implementing new, innovative approaches that will help in the long term to prevent serious crime through the £200 million, 10-year Youth Endowment Fund.”
