Following the publication today of the Black Country Plan which is now open for consultation, the MP for Dudley North, Marco Longhi, has reacted with anger to the news that sites in his constituency have been targeted for release from the Green Belt (See below).
Marco Longhi MP said: “I have always been very clear and consistent with my opposition to Green Belt development as has Mayor Andy Street who agrees with me and the government’s position that we target brownfield sites before considering any Green Belt.
“I cannot accept that we have a situation in which the local Council proposes to release these elements of Green Belt while the plan itself recognises that we would have an oversupply of approximately 1,000 units, according to the Council.
“Dudley Planning team must heed the government’s agenda and ambitious plans to protect our landscapes by boosting nature recovery and helping more people access nature. At present I don’t believe Dudley are. The government’s plans can be found here:
“I am appalled by the initial proposals and I will be objecting with every measure I can use. It is very important that residents who agree with me join in my campaign against the proposals and respond to the consultation with their views. I have set up an online petition here:
