There has been mounting pressures on the front-line NHS Staff at Dudley Russell Hall hospital who are battling against Covid19. Admissions in the wards and in ITU have been high and the loss of patients dying from Covid19 is a strain and heart-breaking for staff.
As a result of these constant pressures the St. Thomas's Muslim Community Forum, who distributed hot food during the last wave in April, have reached out as they wanted to help lift the morale of the NHS Staff at Russell Hall Hospital. They have worked alongside their MP for Dudley North, Marco Longhi to help organise another food drop.
This time the group delivered snack foods including, chocolates, sweets, biscuits, crisps, and drinks which were the preferred items for distribution to ICU staff and others across Russell Hall hospital.
Abrar Ahmed on behalf of the group said, "It is important the community continue to support our NHS Staff. The group consisting of Haji Abdul Malik, Abrar Ahmed, Sajid Hanif, Amjid Raza, Mohammed Arif, M. Bashir Khan and Rana Rab Nawaz sponsored today's food donation. This is the least we can do to thank them for their efforts to fight this dreadful disease".
Marco Longhi MP, said, "today really has shown how deep the community spirit is in Dudley. NHS staff have been fighting to battle this disease under the most challenging circumstances and I know everyone continues to appreciate their heroic efforts.”

Diane Wake, chief executive of The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This is such a kind gesture and the snacks will be very welcome on our ITU and other wards where staff are working so hard to look after our patients. On behalf of them all I would like to thank St Thomas’s Muslim Community Forum, Marco Longhi MP and Morrison’s supermarket. Our community has been incredibly generous and supportive throughout this pandemic and it has made a real difference to our staff. We would ask people to continue to support us by following all the regulations in place to help drive down infections, and remember hands – face – space.”
