On Saturday, the Member of Parliament for Dudley North, Marco Longhi visited the Trident shopping centre and met with three flourishing businesses and heard that three more retail units had been taken up.
Marco Longhi MP stated, βI was a pleasure to visit these businesses and see retail success during these challenging times. Of course, I acknowledge many are still having a real tough time because of Covid-19, Iβve recently talked about the hospitality sector which has really borne the brunt of the consequences of Covid safety measures β and it still is.
βBut one thing I do know is this: we can all talk ourselves down, be negative and reduce customer interest in the area, or we can work the problem and be as optimistic as we can be, it really does make a difference. The Trident Centre and the top end of the High Street deserve better press than they get, even pre-Covid.
βOn Saturday I met with Mel Davis and Steph Box from Josephines Baby Boutique and I heard about their positive stories of investment and expansion. The business is thriving, and the more it does the more jobs are created.
βThe very same story was repeated by Steve John of Buy Sofas Direct, a business that locally manufactures and sells sofas and has also expanded in other household furniture and taken on an additional space in the centre.
βRounds, a local buy back store run by Gary Round, has been in the Centre for several years and the good news is that three more shops have taken up leases. All shops had very good Covid safety measures in place. Letβs keep going and make the most of what we can.β
