Statement by Marco Longhi MP
Following a recent newspaper article about Dudley borough receiving several hundred asylum seekers I want to make it clear that had previously raised this issue with the Council and was informed that Dudley had not accepted any illegal immigrants. I have written to the Chief Executive to clarify the exact position of foreign nationals seeking support from the Council, including the impact this will have on Council finances and local housing stock etc.
I believe this issue highlights the need to complete the Brexit process without any further extension as opposition parties want, which will give us back full control of our borders. The unnecessary delay of Brexit has resulted in an unacceptable level of border crossings.
