It was great meeting former footballer Martin Keown in Parliament this week- he was there to support the Unauthorised Entry to Football Matches Bill.
I am backing this Bill. Otherwise known as ‘tailgating’, this is the dangerous behaviour by people who forcefully enter stadiums without tickets.
I am helping to get this Bill through Parliament as it would make tailgating at football matches a criminal act.
Football authorities and police have strong concerns about tailgating and other forms of unauthorised entry at football matches. This practice puts fans, stewards and staff at risk.
At the EURO20 Final at Wembley, we sadly saw widespread tailgating and other forms of breaches at the stadium.
