The MP for Dudley North, Marco Longhi is working with residents to protect the Green Belt that borders Dudley Borough.
Marco Longhi MP said “I have been liaising with the Chief Executive of South Staffordshire council on this issue as there has been a development proposal that seeks to destroy the protected Green Belt that borders our two areas.
“This would create settlement coalescence and would directly encroach on the countryside, which is not in accordance with the National Planning Framework. In addition, this type of development would not assist the urban regeneration plan for the West Midlands Combined authority.
“We must focus on Brownfield sites that blight our area. Big investments into a town centres, including housing is the future for regeneration not stripping our precious green belt.
“Therefore, any request to destroy the Green Belt must be rejected by local Councils to ensure they are following the National Planning Framework, as well as adhering to the urban regeneration plan.
““I will work alongside residents to protect the Green Belt for future generations, especially people in Gornal and Sedgley who live adjacent to the Green Belt”.
