On Monday 10th January, the Priory Park School will open its doors for the first time. Led by the new Headmaster Mr Playford, and in partnership with the Priory Park Boxing Club, the school will take on children who are struggling in the area and help to turn their lives around.
It is great to see the boxing club partner with a school that will bring visible changes to young people’s lives. This will be transformative for the area and provide much-needed discipline, life skills and prospects that they so badly need. The new Priory Park School will be a fantastic opportunity for turning around the lives of young people who are at risk of exclusion and other disadvantaged young people.
I want to personally thank Paul Gough of Priory Park Boxing Club for the energy and resilience he has shown in pulling this project together. We have often exchanged thoughts about the way forward when the project faced one problem after another and although people like me and the Richardsons worked hard to help out, it needed somebody to be the ‘standard bearer’ and Paul was that person.
I wish the school, staff and pupils the very best of success!
