This week is ‘Respect for Shopworkers Week’ and the focus is on Crime and Violence against Shopworkers. So today Marco Longhi MP visited the Co-op store in Woodsetton to speak directly to staff.H
He horrified at what he heard. Staff should NOT be subject to the working conditions that leaves them so vulnerable. He is also amazed at their resilience and we all owe them a debt for the important role they played during Covid - no working from home for them
It was distressing to hear of the lack of support from West Midlands Police - it seems that only 36% of cases are attended and of those only 8% result in charges.
Marco Longhi MP will be bringing this up with the Police, this is not remotely acceptable. Marco pay tribute to Co-op and all retail staff just trying to do their job.
