In conjunction with members of the Dudley North Muslim community, Marco Longhi MP delivered a gift of halal food to Russells Hall Hospital today to say a huge thank you to frontline staff who are caring for patients with COVID-19 in the Black Country.
Marco, who inspired the kind gesture, brought freshly prepared vegetable biryani and sweet rice to the hospital with Haji Malik, Amjad Raza, Abrar Mumtaz, Mohammed Bashir and Sajid Hanif.
Consultant vascular surgeon Atiq Rehman and Mushtaq Ahmed, consultants in Trauma and Orthopaedics, received the food that was for all staff but particularly those members of staff observing Ramadan.
Marco Longhi, Member of Parliament for Dudley North, said:
"Our frontline NHS staff are working incredibly hard at the coalface and so I was pleased to help in this small way in bringing freshly prepared meals to them.
It is a great sacrifice for our Islamic community to miss out on communal prayers and Iftar meals during their holy month because of the lockdown"
