Dudley residents pay £159 per year for a TV License (a television tax) and all this money goes towards running the BBC. It is the state broadcaster.
Marco Longhi MP said he used to truly respect the BBC, especially the World Service, when he worked in remote areas. But this institution is not what it used to be. It is clearly politically biased and its coverage of the Brexit referendum, and subsequently, has proven to him that its reporters were never objective or ever respected the decision made by Dudley residents, and the country, when they voted for Brexit in 2016.
Nowadays it’s the BBC itself that is in the news all the time. Scandal after scandal keeps erupting from the BBC.
Now yet another presenter of theirs has become the news. Marco said ‘I ask myself this: would the leftwing press, including the BBC, have covered this latest episode in the same way had it been a Conservative MP in the news instead of Huw Edwards? I think not.’
Marco promised to continue to lobby the Government to scrap the TV license and give Dudley residents relief by saving £159 per year. It should move to a subscription model and compete with other channels.
