Marco has published his "MyPlan" to show residents what he is fighting for.
1. Rebuilding life after the pandemic
COVID has presented Dudley and the rest of the country with many challenges in such a short amount of time. I will continue to pursue the support we need to recover and rebuild our economy as we continue to ride this pandemic and hopefully long after it has gone.
2. Town Regeneration
My aim is to support and regenerate our town centre to a place where people are proud to live, work, shop and spend leisure time. The new Portersfield Project which has now started in our town centre will increase footfall and dramatically improve our public transport system and improve access to our national motorway networks.
3. Jobs and Skills for the Future
I will continue to work hard with education providers like Dudley College of Technology and their new project - The Institute of Technology, which will provide programs of education for advanced and modern methods of construction. In addition, I want our region to capitalise on future Free Trade Agreements and encourage new relationships for importing and exporting good and services with the opportunity of opening up new markets. I will continue to support the government in investing in big projects to increase employment prospects.
4. Safeguarding local health services
To ensure that all Dudley North residents get access to GP and other health care services as and when they require it. This includes supporting new plans for a new accident and emergency department at Russells Hall Hospital and continue campaigning for free car parking for all. I will continue to support initiatives that will help people get the right treatment quickly.
5. Policing and Tackling Crime
After welcoming the announcement from our PM of 20,000 more police officers on the beat, I have already started a program of engagement with our local police force to look at crime in our constituency. My aim is to increase confidence for residents that if they report a crime it is acted upon and not swept under the carpet. I will campaign for more effective measures to tackling crime so that residents feel safe. I want to see more community policing to help make this a stronger, safer community to live and work in.
6. Championing Charities and Community Groups
I am so proud to have been invited to spend time with local charities and community groups to witness first hand the amazing work they do. I will continue to provide them with support and ensure that they have the platform to the right information and funding to allow them to continue with their invaluable work.
7. Protecting our Green Belt
I will continue to fight against the development on our green spaces in Lower Gornal, Sedgley and other beautiful green belt sites and I am determined to do my best to try and protect them from inappropriate expansion. Whilst I appreciate there is a need for more houses, development must be in the right places with the council prioritising brownfield sites before releasing valuable green belt.
